A SOLDIERS PRAYER

My love so far away from me
in this war is where i'll be
We fight our battles day to day
but my own battles in my way
is living here with out you
in this smoke, haze, and hue.

At night when others dream in fear
by my eye a single tear
when comrades fall and are took away
I pray to God to let me stay.

But only to come home to you
and just because you asked me to
instead of you, my arms hold shells
but soon we'll hear our wedding bells.

I promise I'll come home to you
will you be my wife, I pray you do
some day soon, to a setting sun
we may have daughter or son
and by your side, I will stay true
I pray to God, I'll see you soon.
