SKIN DEEP
Author: Margie Camu
Look deep into my eyes.
Tell me, What do you see?
A girl who's heart's
been deeply hurt
and left in misery.
Look deep into my mind
and into my brain.
All my thoughts are of you,
and of knowledge I gain.
Look beyond my beauty,
and into my heart.
There you'll find
that it's been hurt
and very torn apart.
Look into my mouth,
and down to my throat.
See where all this pain leads?
It's left me here to choke.
Look beyond my talent,
and see what's iside.
Look over my shoulder
I've been hurt enough,
don't stab me behind.
Search my soul,
and find the treasure
It's my heart. Open it,
what's inside?
Pain I can't measure.
Listen to me laugh.
Yeah, it sounds alright.
But listen closely.
It's truly a painful cry.
Though, thanks for looking skin deep,
To know how i truly feel.
I know my heart will surely mend,
and slowly start to heal.
