TONGUE OF ANGELS
Author: Melissa Rasmussen
Upon my angels dulcet lips
I gently pressed my own
And sensed a luminosity
Yet candles, there were none.
Though rapture neer did reach my lips,
I raised my drunken gaze
And knew that God had sent you here
To instill with love my days
And legions thou shalt take, He said,
For wayward is her heart.
So near to heaven neer Id been
And opted neer to part.
I placed my hand atop your head
But found no halo there
Then supposed my heart within itself,
Gods hidden it somewhere.
But feared I soon my dream would cease
And primed my heart to stir
Uncovered I my jaded eyes
And, Seraph, there you were!
Upon my knees I thanked my God,
Though you may not perfect be,
For God alone perfection knows:
And perfect you are for me.
